South West image Bank
This project completed in August and involved creating a fresh new look for the website of the South West image Bank. This is an organisation in the South-West of England archiving and digitising photographic records of the region. Their work, staffed primarily by volunteers, involves:
- acquiring, preserving and digitally restoring photographic collections pertaining to the region for present and future historical research and enquiry;
- working with similar heritage-based initiatives in the community towards the mutually beneficial exhibition of our collections, further complemented through our online galleries, on-site public search room delivery, and other outreach activities;
- creating a digital archive of our collections via in-house cataloguing and scanning work on to a searchable database, allowing for world-wide access to our collections.
We are not tasked to make any changes to the content of the site but only to design a new look, code the CSS (custom style sheets) and provide tutorials so SWiB can make future changes to the design themselves.
